What to expect?
Once you’ve booked your chiropractic appointment at Chiropractic Touch, we’ll send you an email with a link to set up your profile and complete your new patient forms online—super simple and saves time on the day. If you’re unable to fill out the form online beforehand, no problem—just make sure to arrive at the practice 15 minutes early so you have time to complete a paper copy before your appointment. For your first visit, we recommend wearing something comfortable and arriving a few minutes early so you can park easily at Shore City Shopping Centre, just a short walk from our Takapuna chiropractic practice, with two hours of free parking available.New to Chiropractic? Your First Visit
When you arrive, our friendly receptionist will be there to welcome you and help you settle in. You’ll then meet with your chiropractor for your consultation, where they’ll take the time to really listen—getting to know your health history, any current concerns, and what you’re hoping to achieve with care.
Next, we’ll carry out a thorough assessment, which includes checking your spine, as well as any orthopaedic and/or neurological tests pertinent to your presentation. As part of your initial visit, we also use advanced Insight Scans to help us better understand how your nervous system is functioning. These non-invasive scans give us a deeper look at how your body is adapting to stress. There are three types we use: thermography, which measures temperature differences along your spine; sEMG (surface electromyography), which assesses muscle activity and tension; and HRV (Heart Rate Variability), which gives insight into how well your body is balancing and recovering from stress.
We’ll also take advanced posture photos, which allow us to look more closely at your posture and alignment and provide a useful visual reference as you progress through care. Together, your Insight Scans, posture photos and the information gathered during your consultation help us build a clearer picture of how your body is functioning and tailor your chiropractic care to your individual goals.
If X-rays are warrated, we will refer you to one of the local radiologist centers that’s most convenient to you. You can expect your initial consultation to take around 30–45 minutes.
Your Next Visit – The Report of Findings
Your chiropractor will carefully review all your assessment findings, Insight Scans, posture photos and any X-rays to build a clearer picture of what’s happening and determine the best way to support you. When you come back for your next appointment, we’ll explain what we found and share our recommended plan for your chiropractic care. We’ll answer any questions you have, and if you’re ready, you’ll begin your chiropractic journey with us here at Chiropractic Touch.
