Chiropractic care is a vitalistic approach to health that focuses on specifically detecting, analysing and correcting dysfunction between the spine and nerve system, primarily through manual spinal adjustments. It is grounded in the principle that the body possesses an innate ability to heal itself when the spine and nerve system function optimally. These are vertebral subluxations, which are misalignments of the spine that can interfere with nerve function and overall well-bein

Chiropractic is remarkably safe. Chiropractic has been around since 1895 and now supported by numerous studies demonstrating the efficacy of chiropractic care. The New Zealand Centre for Chiropractic Research is a world-class research facility here in New Zealand, and we are lucky enough to have one of their leaders in chiropractic research, Dr Tanja Glucina, practicing alongside us here at Chiropractic Touch.

This will vary from person to person. Our chiropractors will go through your health history to gain and understanding of how long you have had this problem, any trauma or accidents and other factors related to your health. They will then conduct an examination which may include assessing your posture, range of motion, selecting specific orthopaedic or neurological tests based on your presentation and a spinal exam. Based on the chiropractors’ findings, they will then determine what care plan would be best suitable to you. Regular chiropractic adjustments go hand in hand with good health. This is where the magic happens!

Each chiropractor at Chiropractic Touch has trained for a minimum of 5 years in order to obtain their qualification and has a multitude of techniques to call on. During the initial appointment, the chiropractor will determine what technique will bring you the most benefit.

We can use our hands to make fast, gentle and specific adjustments which restores proper movement to your spine. Alternatively we can use an instrument called an activator which is a handheld spring-loaded tool that delivers a controlled low force thrust into the spine.

There are chiropractic techniques suitable for the whole family.

Chiropractic care offers a wide range of benefits. Some of the key advantages include:

  1. Pain Management – Chiropractic adjustments have been found to be effective in alleviating chronic back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint pain without relying on medication or invasive procedures.
  2. Improved Nerve System Function – Since the spine houses the nerve system, correcting vertebral subluxations ensures that nerve signals travel efficiently between the brain and body, supporting optimal organ function.
  3. Enhanced Mobility and Flexibility – Regular chiropractic care can help improve joint mobility and muscle function, reducing stiffness and enhancing range of motion.
  4. Better Posture – Poor posture is a common cause of spinal subluxations. Chiropractic adjustments help the body to restore proper posture, preventing long-term damage to the spine.
  5. Boosted Immune System – Research suggests that a well-functioning spine can support immune function by reducing stress on the nerve system, allowing the body to fight off illnesses more effectively.
  6. Stress Reduction and Mental Clarity – Spinal adjustments may also promote relaxation and mental well-being by reducing tension in the body and improving circulation.
It is very rare that your chiropractic adjustment will cause pain or leave you feeling worse afterwards. Our practitioners utilise gentle, low force techniques which ensures your adjustments are specific and delivered with the minimum of discomfort. The majority of patients find the appointment enjoyable and EFFECTIVE.

Obvious Spinal Problem
Everyone, regardless of age or condition, can benefit from a nervous system that is working at its very best. Most people associate chiropractic care with headaches, neck and back problems. Our interest in the spine is only because it houses the nervous system.

Visceral or Organic Complaints
Many consult our office for “non-back” health problems. Chiropractic care has been documented to help with many different health issues.

Natural Drug Free Health Care
Those who wish to avoid risky drugs or irreversible surgery will often visit our office first. Chiropractic is a safer, more natural approach to better health.

Maintenance and Prevention
If you’ve had chiropractic care elsewhere, you already know the value of ongoing chiropractic care. We’d be honored to be your chiropractor.

Stay Well
We experience life through our nervous system. Those who want to optimize their health, be all that they can be and perform at their best.

A chiropractor focuses on spinal adjustments to improve nerve function which enhances the body’s natural ability to restore better overall function. An osteopath takes a holistic approach, using hands-on techniques to treat the musculoskeletal system and circulation. A physiotherapist uses exercise, manual therapy, and rehabilitation techniques to restore movement and function after injury or illness. While they overlap in treating pain and mobility issues, their methods and philosophies differ.

Absolutely not! This is a common concern amongst parents who mistakenly think that their baby will be checked and adjusted in a similar manner to themselves. To adjust a baby, our chiropractors apply a gentle pressure with their fingers or a specific handheld instrument called an activator. The pressure used to adjust a baby is the same pressure you would use to touch your eyelid. Sometimes babies can sleep through their appointment with us.

50% of women experience significant levels of back, hip or pelvic pain during their pregnancy. Research shows that chiropractic care, during your pregnancy, can relieve up to 85% of symptoms and result in an easier delivery process. We consider the size of your belly, how far along in your pregnancy and your comfort to determine which chiropractic technique would best suit you. An optimally functioning nerve system can benefit both mother and baby.

At Chiropractic Touch Takapuna, we start all our appointments by actually listening to you. Our initial consultation is built around listening to you and your story so that we can understand how and when things went wrong. We then run through some comprehensive testing, in house at our practice, to asses your overall health. Some of this testing includes a posture exam, neurological and orthopedic tests, muscle testing and a spinal exam.

Chiropractic is often associated with the resolution of musculoskeletal issues like back pain, neck pain, headaches, joint pain, and posture problems. It aims to improve spinal alignment and mobility and support overall nerve system function. It’s also used for performance enhancement, and general wellness.

Chiropractors determine where to adjust by assessing posture, range of motion, muscle tone and spinal alignment. They use physical exams, palpation (feeling for misalignments or tension), patient history, and sometimes X-rays or other imaging. They also check for muscle imbalances and nerve function to pinpoint areas needing adjustment.

A chiropractor focuses on spinal adjustments to correct vertebral subluxations to improve nerve function which enhances the body’s natural ability to restore better overall function and health.

On a first visit, chiropractors take a detailed medical history, discuss symptoms, and perform a physical exam and detailed spinal exam. They assess posture, spinal alignment, range of motion, and may use X-rays or other imaging. They explain findings, recommend a care plan, and may perform an initial adjustment.

Some people may experience mild side effects after chiropractic care, including soreness, stiffness, headaches, or fatigue. These effects are usually temporary and resolve within a day or two. Proper individual assessment and appropriate technique selection minimise risks.

Yes, a chiropractor can help with a ‘pinched nerve’ by adjusting the spine to restore proper function and mobility. They use spinal adjusting techniques to improve alignment, decrease inflammation, and restore function. However, severe cases may require additional medical treatment.
